  • What's in your wallet?

No it's not a commercial for Capital One credit card. It's a question on how for those who do carry a wallet for everyday specifically, gear the content, to survival? Some of us will carry an inspirational picture to reinforce who we're surviving for? Others may want to have a minimum of cash in certain denominations, depending on how they might use it? Other still might like some particular tools and or gear, for those times when their GHB or BOB is lost or stolen? So "What's in your wallet?" Share it with the board. I will describe my Survival Wallet after some interest has been shown for this topic. If nobody posts, I'll just leave it alone as something the members don't really care about?
JUST CAUSE THEY SAY IT DON'T MAKE IT TRUE And if it comes from Info Wars or Alex Jones, it's probably BULLSHIT!

To begin with I carry two wallets. One is a"dummy" wallet. A dummy wallet has very little cash in it, about $50 broken do into 1 twenty, 1 ten, 2 fives and 10 ones. There are also used gift cards and prepaid credit cards, with no money on them. There is a phony ID with my real picture on it but the address and other info is all false. So what is this wallet for? Well should I be stuck up at gun point, I can give the perp this wallet, without fear of hims knowing anything about me and losing only $50. I can also throw the wallet to distract my assailant if I choose to fight or flee. So in essence this is my first survival wallet.

The next wallet which would probably be better named my gear wallet, is made of duct tape. http://www.myprepperforum.com/forum/...locking-wallet

Inside I carry $1500 cash in twenties, fifty's and hundreds. You might ask why so much cash? Well if I need a hotel room and they want a thousand dollar deposit, I have it.

I carry an Amex card with no spending limit, a prepaid credit card (Visa) with $2000 on it and a debit cart (MasterCard) linked to my primary account. You may ask, why so much money and access to money. Well you never know when you will have to leave, buy plane tickets, rent a car, hotel or something else where money is a necessity. Where ever possible I try to use cash. I don't like a paper trail of where I go and what I buy. So the only way to insure anonymity,is to use cash.

A word about cash. Today the government has a war on cash. The simple fact of carrying large sums of money, can my you a criminal or make the money suspect of a crime. I know that sounds crazy but your can read all about it here, http://www.businessinsider.com/the-g...on-cash-2017-1 and here you can see how police departments seize and keep your money, charging the CASH with a crime, https://www.aol.com/video/view/55144...6b4eded7/?ft=1

Here is what I do combat this,
            1. I literally wash my money. I do this to clean off any cocaine or other drug residue, from the cash. Now they can't connect the money to drugs.
            2. Every time I make a withdrawal of money from the bank I KEEP THE RECEIPT. proving where the money came from.
            3. I literally write down the serial numbers and denominations of all my bills except 5s and 1s and store the list at home (hidden) with backups on my puter and elsewhere.

These measures don't guaranty my money won't be stolen by law or criminal but they help me sleep at night. (who's kidding who? I don't ever sleep. lol)

Back to the wallet and what's inside? The gear consist of some things you may have never considered?

            1. https://www.amazon.com/SURVCO-CREDIT...words=card+axe Out of all the card type survival kits I've tested, this is the most useful and practical one I have at an affordable price. Go to the link for details on what it can do and check out these videos to see it in action, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9doxaDzkQBE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L26b_VDRxDw

            2. My second card is http://www.readyman.com/products/rea...ge-escape-card and while the two picks are less than stellar they do work in a pinch. The two best tools on the card are the saw and the pointy thing, that is one of these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhNvC38C2FU and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IguPm5DQ70s you can see how useful they can be

            3. One of these cards, https://www.amazon.com/FLOSSCARD-Den...rds=floss+card that not only provides me with dental hygiene but cordage and or suture material. I also slip one of these into the soft side of the card https://www.amazon.com/Dritz-3-Piece...angular+needle for repais and wound closer in an emergency.

            4. https://www.amazon.com/Pocket-Credit...lashlight+card No explanation needed, I think?

            5. One of these https://www.amazon.com/OpticLens-Cre...s=fresnel+lens for starting fires in the daytime and to see things close up. (yeah it sucks getting old)

            6. Some aluminum foil for cooking and signaling.

            7. And because the wallet is a bit bulky a ranger band to hold it closed and for fire making.

Now because the wallet is quite slick which makes it very easy to pick pocket, I used grip tape on both sides of the wallet to give it texture. https://www.amazon.com/Camco-25401-N...ords=grip+tape This stuff is very course andactually turns the wallet into a weapon if need be.

So I hope you got something out of this post. You might not want to do what I do but hopefully, I gave you some ideas to work with. I you make your own that's different or has other things in it, why not post them in this thread for the members to learn and enjoy from? THANKS!

I actually just wrote an article on this subject. I love the idea of a dummy wallet. I am definitely stealing that. I also included several of the same cards in my wallet as the ones Skills mentioned. The first one that converts into a hatchet is awesome. I keep the fire lens, a signal mirror, and the LED flashlight. I have a lock pick set, but it is actually disguised to look like a credit card so it would not get confiscated at first glance.

I also keep one of the folding credit card knives. I know they are flimsy but having a spare blade is still valuable. Then there is a metal card that includes 9 fish hooks and three different styles of arrow/spear heads. Lastly, there is a thick plastic card that includes a ferro rod, two rescue whistles, a compass, paracord, a knife, and several other functions. I also like to keep a few loose items such as fish hooks and iodine tablets for purifying water. I like to have some extra paracord and some copper wire. I also have a spare ferro rod and a little penny sized compass.

I also carry an RFID blocker card. I cannot stress enough how important this is. Criminals now have scanners that can pull your credit card numbers with your credit cards sitting "safely" in your wallet. They just have to get within a few inches of your wallet and they have all your information to steal your identity. The RFID blocker card prevents this device from working.

You don't have to steal anything Ryan, I posted it for others to use. I would ask that if you plan on writing it in an article that you post you give me credit Anything else would be plagiarism lol well not really

So even though the diy wallet I posted in this thread blocks RFID, for those who want to use their own wallets, you might want to consider this https://www.amazon.com/Signal-Vault-.../dp/B00FUCDT7E it basically turns your whole wallet into RFID blocking. You could also use these sleeves for your individual cards https://www.amazon.com/Blocking-Cred...locking+sleeve and if you order these you also get sleeves for your passports.

As to some of the items Ryan mentioned, I don't carry the fordable knife he's talking about https://www.amazon.com/WSDJP-Outdoor...dit+card+knife in my wallet because I have one, under the sole of my shoe I don't carry the lock pick set he suggests because it adds to much extra bulk to my wallet. I'm not sure which card he's talking about with all the survival stuff on it? But if it's this one? https://www.amazon.com/Survival-Card...=survival+card I have carried it also. If this is the wilderness card? https://www.amazon.com/Survival-Mult...=survival+card I have had SERIOUS problems removing especially the smaller tools from it without tools and is my main gripe with carrying it. However, the suggestion to carry some spare hooks and other flat items in the wallet is a good one Thanks for responding and I hope other members, chime in with what they carry?
