  • Instant recipes based on whatever's in your fridge

Not really about stockpiling but it's fun to play with. The guys who made it definitely stepped out of the box with this one. Why hasn't anyone thought about this until now?

This is a great idea. I saw somewhere that a company is developing a "smart kitchen". It is still a few years out, but there is a giant cutting board/island in the center of the kitchen. You just place the ingredients you would like to use on the cutting board and an overhead camera scans your ingredients. A choice of recipes is then projected down onto the island. After you select a recipe, all of your steps, measurements, and other required ingredients are displayed on the cutting board. It then walks you through the cooking process step by step. It is an interesting concept.

Nice. They've actually taken things even further, they made a robot that can cook. I wonder if it can make pemmican lol

A friend and I had gone camping for the weekend with our daughters at my parents campground. It was late in the year, probably September or October. We did something similar once on the last morning of a camping trip. It had started to pour down rain and I must admit we ran for the building and I used my key to get us all inside to avoid getting drenched. We brought the cooler full of leftovers and remaining food in with us and we had one of those deep electric skillets. We decided to make breakfast out of all the leftover food. Eggs, leftover hamburgers and even a hot dog cooked on the grill, some leftover baked potatoes we had cooked in the coals of the fire, it all got cut up and went into the skillet. The last piece of onion and some green pepper that was left. Then we broke our last couple of eggs, scrambled them up with the last of the milk and dumped it all in the skillet. The best breakfast we ever had. I tried for years to recreate it, buying all the same ingredients but to no avail. There was something about all that food cooked over an open fire that gave it just the right taste I guess.

uggh I think I'll pass on the robot chef. It's kind of creepy to see a pair of arms hanging over my kitchen sink, not too mention the price tag! Ouch!

I love that site! The best and easiest peanut butter fudge...I add some brown sugar and a bit more vanilla but that old timey fudge that cracks and has shards....not so much the chewy bouncey stuff with marshmallow base...but yes, that site is great especially when you are going on a trip and want to use your perishables...or have just come home and see whats left!
